Trophy Regulations

General

• Game must be legally taken and tagged (where applicable) by the SBPA member in good standing.
• Fair Chase Rules apply (re: Saskatchewan Wildlife Federation scoring affidavit)
• Species must be legally hunted within the boundaries of Saskatchewan
• An affidavit stating the species of animal/bird, date and zone of kill signed by 3 current SBPA members will normally be deemed sufficient proof of kill. However, the SBPA reserves the right to request additional proof until the SBPA is satisfied that the animal or bird was taken within the guideline's of the scoring system outlined below.
• Entries to be delivered to the SBPA address not later than 31 December of the year following the close of the hunting seasons.
• Trophies will be awarded at the Annual Awards Banquet as announced in the newsletter.

• Muzzle loading rifle only.
• Rack (or head) to be measured by an accredited measurer.
• The highest scoring rack/head in each event shall determine the winner.
• Non-typical are those racks with 10% or more non-typical points.
• Proof of kill indicated by a copy of the validated tag (or copy of the habitat permit and date of kill )

One does not have to exceed the minimum rack size in order to qualify for any specific species. There are trophies for the largest of each of the above species plus Hunter of the Year award for the hunter who accumulates the most points using the above system. Entries must be submitted to the SBPA with proof of kill and measures recorded by an official measurer (Contact your local SWF for a list of accredited measurers in your area).

Game Birds

• Muzzle loading shotgun only.
• Bird to be weighed on a government approved scale and the weigh sheet include the full name, address, phone number and signature of the weigher.
• The heaviest bird in each event shall determine the winner.

• Sandhill Crane
• Sharp-tailed Grouse
• Spruce Grouse
